Announcing support for Basecamp Classic

Quick note: Backdrop now supports Basecamp Classic accounts! Your Basecamp classic accounts and projects will now show up alongside your newer accounts.

Copying large files to Dropbox with the dropbox-api Ruby gem

We’re using the wonderful dropbox-api gem from FutureSimple for accessing the Dropbox developer API. For copying large files, we needed support for the new Dropbox copy_ref method. If you need it, here’s our fork of the project:

Thanks to MyBackupBox for providing the solution for large file transfers on their blog:

Introducing Backdrop

Backdrop is a simple tool for copying your Basecamp files to Dropbox.

I love Basecamp for managing my projects, but sometimes working with lots of files in Basecamp can be difficult. I wanted them available in my Dropbox, so I could see them wherever I happened to be.

I didn’t find any simple tools to do just this, so I built one. If you’re tired of downloading and moving files around, give Backdrop a try. Signup is quick and easy. After that, just one checkbox will get your files moved and keep them updated forever.

As I add features or have some useful tips and tricks about Basecamp or Dropbox, I’ll post here.

If you have any problems, suggestions or feature requests, comment here or write to support@diluvia.net.
